Revealing the differences between natural barium sulfate and precipitated barium sulfate

The price difference is very large

It can be seen from the production process that the production costs of the two are very different, and the output is also different. The production process of natural barium is simple and the output is large, so the relative price is relatively low. The total price of the natural barium market is about 1,500 yuan/ton. Precipitated barium sulfate is produced through a series of complex processes such as calcination, synthesis, extraction, precipitation, and flash evaporation. It requires a large amount of raw materials such as electricity, coal, sodium sulfate, barite, etc., the daily output is limited, and the cost is much higher than natural barium. At present, there are only more than 10 manufacturers in China that can only produce precipitated barium sulfate. Qinba Barium Salt has been specializing in the production of precipitated barium sulfate for 15 years. The process is mature and stable, the quality of precipitated barium sulfate is stable, and there are more than 1,000 domestic customers.

The content of barium sulfate varies greatly

The barium sulfate content of natural barium is very unstable, depending on the source of barite and mining area, and contains a large amount of impurities. The barium sulfate content is generally less than 80%. Precipitated barium sulfate is not used, chemical synthesis removes a variety of impurities, and after extraction and precipitation treatment, the barium sulfate content can be as high as 99%, which can be used as fillers for various fine chemical products, such as water-based coatings, automotive coatings, electronic inks and other high-end applications.

There is a big difference in the fineness of the product

In the powder industry, there is a unit called "AIM" that measures the fineness of the product. The more objects there are, the smaller the fineness. Therefore, there are 300 mesh to 12500 mesh barium sulfate on the market, of which 300 mesh is mainly natural barium sulfate, and precipitated barium sulfate is generally above 10000 mesh.

Different application areas

Natural barium sulfate is usually used in areas where the content, fineness, pH value, dispersion, whiteness, oil absorption, and other indicators are not high, such as ordinary coatings, ordinary plastics, etc. Precipitated barium sulfate can be used as a filler for various fine chemical products, such as water-based coatings, automotive coatings, electronic inks, and other high-end uses.
