Uses of zinc stearate:
The application range of zinc stearate is very wide. It can be used as a lubricant and mold release agent for styrene resin, phenolic resin, and amino resin, as a softening lubricant for rubber products, a polishing agent for textiles, a stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride plastics, a flattening agent for paints and enamels, and a raw material for cosmetics.
1. Zinc stearate is an acid filler activator. It is only active for acid fillers. It can also be used as a mold release agent. The price is relatively low. When it is used as an internal mold release agent, the performance is always stable.
2. Zinc stearate is generally used as a melting agent in rubber and is rarely used as an activator because it has a very low solubility with rubber and is easy to spray onto the surface. However, it is often used as a foaming aid, i.e., an activator, in peroxide foaming products such as EVA.
3. The relative density of zinc stearate is 1.05-1.10. It is mainly used as an activator and dusting agent. It can also be used as a mold release lubricant, plasticizer, and softener. It is suitable for natural rubber, synthetic rubber, and latex. When zinc stearate is used as an active agent, it can activate the acid type and improve the processing performance. It can be sprinkled on the surface of the product or in the mold cavity as a powder, or made into a water dispersion and applied to the surface of the product or the mold to prevent the film from sticking.
4. Zinc stearate is generally used as a release agent. Mixing chloroprene rubber and chlorosulfonated polyethylene rubber is a good lubricant and can significantly reduce the occurrence of roller sticking. Generally, the dosage of 1-2% is safe, and excessive dosage is easy to spray out. In addition, it has the effect of reducing the surface gloss of rubber products, that is, it has a certain matting effect. It also has another function. When adding 1-2% during mixing, it can significantly improve the fluidity of the rubber compound, that is, it is an internal rubber fluidity improver, which can significantly reduce the occurrence of material shortages and defective products in the production of film-pressed products.
5. In addition, there is a kind of zinc stearate in paste form (water-based emulsion), which can be used as an anti-sticking agent for raw silicone (actually, all semi-finished mixed rubber products), and the effect is remarkable. Before cutting the raw silicone strips with a knife, you can first put the paste-like zinc stearate (a small amount is fine) into a proper amount of tap water, and then blow it with an air pipe to mix it (because zinc stearate is insoluble in water), then you can put the cut raw rubber strips into the water and take them out immediately, and they will not stick to each other at all. You can also put this water in a spray gun and spray while cutting the rubber, which is very effective.
